Dear Brethren,

MEDITATION
21  In whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in
the Lord,  22  in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:21-22

OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION

1. In whom

a) This is a reference to the Lord Jesus Christ!
b) He plays a central role!

2. Imagery of a Building

a) A whole building
b) Not in part but as a whole

3. Fitted together

a) This is unity/ oneness
b) Different roles but all fit together
c) Different gifts but all are to work together

4. Growth

a) This is Vital
b) It is natural to grow
c) A lack of growth is a strong indication something is not right

5. Building… that of a holy Temple

a) The Temple played a central role in ancient Israel

b) It took a lot to build the Temple
c) It will take a lot to build the Church too

i) Finance
ii) People
iii) Time
iv) Energy etc.

6. Fitted together

a) Reference to people
b) A dwelling place fit for the Lord to stay!

APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY

1. Concept of the Church

a) More than a physical building
b) All members form the Church

2. Challenge for the Church

a) For pastors

i) To understand it
ii) To teach it

b) For Church members

i) To grow in understanding
ii) To fit in

3. Weakness in many churches

A wrong or a defective understanding of the Church! This must be corrected!
